Hello and welcome to the Spring Garden Children’s Center of Easton Pennsylvania
The Spring Garden Children’s Center was the initiative of Reverend Robert Williamson of the First Presbyterian Church of Easton. Dr. Williamson wanted to provide a weekday nursery school to mind and nurture the city’s children to enable them to become good neighbors within the church’s community. Thus after many days of planning, the school was born in September 1955. The center has grown much over the past 50 years and with its dedicated staff and teachers, the growth potential is unlimited!!!
Spring Garden’s Mission is to become the daycare of excellence in the Easton Area with sufficient funding to support programs, families and staff in a fiscally responsible manner. At Spring Garden, we strive to provide a warm, loving environment for all children to grow and learn. We are proud of our children and our school and with your continued dedication and generosity, we plan for greater and more exciting opportunities to come. With your commitment, we will be in a strong position for sustained success!!!

Spring Garden Children's Center Selected to Participate in Arts Program Sunday, May 15, 2011 By: Jan Schwartz

Look what's happening in Northampton County!
All throughout Lead Teacher Sandra Riley's school age classroom at the Spring Garden Children's Center hang brightly colored poster sized sheets of artwork. In various stages of completion, carefully drawn with colored pencil, are cars, trucks, trains, and animals.
The students in Ms. Riley's classroom who attend the National Association for the Education of Young Children (N.A.E.Y.C.) accredited and Keystone STAR 4 child care center for before and after school care, have been selected to participate in the 2010-2011 Art in All of Us Art Pen Pal Program. This year's theme is "Manifest Your Care for Mother Earth." The students have been paired with students attending the Aron Densusianu School in Romania. Riley's school students, ages eight to eleven years, are working on drawings to be shipped to Romania at the end of the month about how transportation can impact animals and the environment.
The twenty-seven students participating at the Romanian school will mail their artwork to their Easton, PA counterparts. Art in All of Us is an international, not-for-profit organization based in Brussels, Belgium, and New York City. The organization states its objective to "promote artistic and creative communication among children from all parts of the globe." Art in All of Us Art Pen Pal Program pairs schools from around the world to exchange informative artwork on their own country and culture.
After giving a tour of her classroom to a visitor, Ms. Riley talked about subjects, like geography, science, art, technology, and environmental issues that she, and her students, has learned about from participating in the project. On a bulletin board was a picture of the Romanian students dressed in Halloween costumes.
"My students were surprised that they celebrated Halloween in Romania, and that Romanian kids looked like kids that they see in their own classrooms," said Ms. Riley, who also teaches her students the importance of media literacy.
She states her students no longer view the Disney movie Cars, or the Michelin tire commercial, in quite the same way as they did before. They now look at the related media with a critical eye, trying to see if it incorporates the theme of the environment and sustainable development, which this project has taught them so much about.
The project will culminate in an art show at the center located at 401 West Berwick Street. Light refreshments will be served as the artwork from Romania will cover the walls, while the digitized pictures drawn by Spring Garden Children's Center students will be projected onto a big screen
